We were really wanting to go camping. We knew that we couldn't go to the mountains because there is still snow up there. So, we needed to find some place warm that isn't too far away. We decided to try out Sand Hollow down by Hurricane. We were supposed to leave on Friday the 8th, but Casey didn't have things ready until about 10pm that night. My brother, sister, and their families had left earlier and they said that the roads were snow packed around beaver and we should wait til Saturday. So, we left Saturday morning and it snowed most of the way, but the roads were good. The rest of Saturday was cold and rainy, but Sunday through Tuesday was warm and sunny. This place was awesome. There were sand dunes right out of camp and a lake that is also right out of camp. We would go for rides in the sand dunes whenever we felt like it and a couple of days we took the boys to the lake to play for a while. The water was cold, but the boys didn't care. The air was warm enough that they could still enjoy the water. It cost a lot in fuel to get there, but it was a great place to go. We will definately be going back. We would like to go when it gets warmer so that we can take the boat to.
Caleb's cousin Cael brought his little four wheeler that they loved to ride. They could drive it themselves with close supervision to help them steer in the right direction. But considering that they are only 2 & 3 year olds, they did a pretty good job.
The sand at camp was great for making sand castles. We had to dig down a little bit past the dry sand to get to the moist sand underneath. We spent a lot of time playing in the sand. We found out later from the camp host that a little boy a few weeks ago got stung by a scorpion while digging in the sand. We never saw any. Thank goodness.
The boys and Layne had fun making a sand city complete with two rivers and a lake. The boys thought that was really cool.
Caleb and Cael really enjoyed playing together. I think they became buds on this campout.
Tuesday we went for a ride before we left and we let the boys explore. They wanted to climb the sand hills and the rocks.
That looks like a great little spot for camping!!
